2/21 - Volunteer Opportunity with Hot Mess Express

$0.00

Hot Mess Express is a group of women showing up for each other when life gets messy—literally and figuratively. Through nominations, they “dispatch” themselves to the homes of fellow moms and women who need a little extra help. They serve women in Camden County, offering a one-time reset through cleaning, organizing, and creating a fresh start at home. Because sometimes, a clean space is the first step toward feeling like yourself again.

When: Saturday, February 21 from 9:30 am to 1 pm

Where: A private residence in Gloucester City (more details to come)

Cost: Free!

Book: No in-person book discussion this time—most of our time will be focused on supporting the person in need.

(That said, if you’d like to read Soul of a Citizen: Living with Conviction in Challenging Times by Paul Rogat Loeb, I’d be happy to discuss it with you over on our MTM Heylo app. It examines how ordinary citizens can make their voices heard and how actions count in a time when we’re told neither matter. It looks at how people get involved in larger community issues and what stops them from getting involved; how they burn out in exhaustion or maintain their commitment for the long haul; how involvement can give them a powerful sense of connection and purpose, even when the road is difficult.)

What to bring: Nothing! Hot Mess Express uses cleaning products already in the home, along with a few donated supplies. Some volunteers prefer to bring their own rubber gloves, but latex ones will be available if you need them. If you have a favorite cleaner or tool you swear by, feel free to bring it along—but otherwise, everything you’ll need will be provided.
